Somewhere To Stay

For a quintessentially Cambridge and undeniably British stay, the University Arms hotel is your go-to. Classic Edwardian interiors are combined with bespoke, leather-padded writing desks, low ottomans and tiered chandeliers in playful colours and rooms full of natural light. The result is ambitious, beautiful, and full of life. The hotel offers 192 luxury rooms and suites across four floors, with views over Parker’s Piece, historic Regent Street, and the hotel’s inner courtyard.

Why not visit their beautiful premises as they host a series of events for the Cambridge Literary Festival, from 20-24th April 2022? There’s an exhilarating line-up of 43 in-person events, some taking place at University Arms.

Something To Drink

Exploring the city is thirsty work. Cue The Cambridge Gin Laboratory, an interactive space in the centre of Cambridge, dedicated to the appreciation of gin.

They offer a variety of classes that will allow you to discover diverse aspects of the Gin experience, including how to taste like a professional, or even blend your own bottle of gin guided by their gin lab experts. Their classes are by appointment only and can be booked here.

Their store is open every day and they would love you to pay them a visit, taste some of their award-winning Cambridge Distillery gins and discover their very own 10 Green Street Gin, exclusively available at the Gin Laboratory.

Something To Eat

A true hidden gem. Located on Mill Road, Little Petra, a small family run restaurant, serves up delicious Jordanian dishes. You will receive a warm Bedouin welcome from Yaseen Hlalat who was born in Wadi Musa, the town on the outskirts of the Rose City, Petra.

Petra is believed to have been settled as early as 9,000 BC. In 1985 it was designated a World Heritage site and in 2007 was named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. You will be able to enjoy photographs of Petra and Jordan throughout the Restaurant, all of which have been taken by Katherine Hlalat.

Elias Hlalat will also be at the Restaurant, when he is not in school, and is sure to bring a smile to customers faces!

Favourites include the Fatteh Chicken, Lamb Shank and the Middle Eastern Moussaka - they’re absolutely delicious. We’d urge you to go and see Yaseen and his lovely team whenever you’re in town.

So there you have it - the perfect Cambridge weekend. Let us know if you’ve visited any of these places, and what you thought about them, via our socials! And, if you’re still not convinced, watch our Cambridge Tiktok here.
